Use caution when dealing with online auction houses. Many sellers are running swindles that include taking your money and not sending you the product you bid on and won. Sellers must beware as well, many buyers are scammers and will send a fake cashiers cheque leaving you with nothing.

 

Data Entry Scams :

Big promises are made for those who sign up for this membership that provides data entry work from home. Once the membership has been paid for, the buyer soon realizes that there are no paying jobs that they qualify for.

 

Email Scams :

Claims of hardships followed by requests for money are the most popular. Diet pill scams, Viagra scams and the like are also very common cons. The more dangerous are the emails that seem to be from reputable companies requesting user names and passwords. No reputable company would ever request private information from you via email.

 

Envelope Stuffing Scams :

Make up to $2,000 a week stuffing envelopes. After the membership is paid, you find out that you are sending letters to other people asking them to send you money to join the membership as well. This is a form of a Pyramid Scam.

 

Get Rich Quick Scams :

Pictures of luxury cars, big houses and beautiful women are used to draw people in. Promises of early retirement and more money that you can count never work for anyone but the person selling the system. Simply put, these systems don't work. If they did, we would all be rich.

 

Mail Scams :

Many catalogues are sent to household with irresistible products for insanely cheap prices. All you have to do is send your cash or money order to the mentioned address and wait for your items. What people don't realize is, there are no items or products. They have just been ripped off.

 

Marketing Scams :

Many people make purchases based on promises made in advertising material. However, once the purchase is made, they find out that they are not getting what they were led to believe they were getting. Remember, it always looks better in the picture and don't forget to read the fine print.

 

Phishing Scams :

So many people are a little bit too trusting in other. It's not their fault, they were raised the right way and do the right things. However, con artists will take advantage of this by sending emails pretending to be companies or other outfits requesting private information, passwords, credit card numbers and even social security information. Never send any private information over the internet unless you are one hundred percent sure the people you are dealing with are safe.

 

Telephone & Telemarketing Scams :

Phone calls from telemarketers bearing news of free vacations or products are a good example of phone scams. What they don't tell you is that in order to claim your prize, you must sit through a presentation and purchase whatever it is they are selling. Then and only then, will you "maybe" get your free prize.

 

Work at Home Scams :

The signs and advertising is everywhere. Everyone seems to be selling a work from home product. The only problem with these offers are although the ideas presented seem realistic and many times are. However, special skills are needed, set up costs are needed and usually they only give you a small piece of the puzzle, leaving you alone to learn how to do things yourself. Most people eventually give up out of frustration or just don't have the patience to go through all the necessary steps.
